Flight diverted after passenger takes off pants, kicks chairs and hits flight attendant

Young air stewardess suffering from headache on an airplane.

A Chicago-bound flight was forced to divert last week when a passenger allegedly became unruly, taking off his pants and attacking a flight attendant.

American Airlines flight 967 from LAX to O’Hare was forced to land in Albuquerque around 3pm to offload the man, Fox News reported.

ESPN reporter Crystina Poncher, who was onboard the flight, said in a Tweet that an empty “handle” of Jack Daniels was found by the man’s seat.

“He was wasted, kicking the seats, hit a flight attendant. Took his pants off,” Poncher said in a Tweet that has since been deleted.

The Sun reported that Poncher went on to say the man’s girlfriend swore at passengers and spat at a passenger who was filming the ordeal.

One passenger on board said they heard her warn passengers that the man’s “mum would sue”.

Poncher said that while she made it to Chicago in the end, many people missed their connecting flights.

“I hope the guy that caused all this drama spends at least tonight in jail,” she said.

American Airlines told the Sun that police met the aircraft in Albuquerque at 2:56pm local time and the flight was able to re-depart at 3:58pm.
