Frontier Airlines passengers strikes crew member with intercom phone, airline claims

Cleveland, OH, USA - July 13, 2015: In the morning, Frontier Airlines A320 (Peachy, the FOX) landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

Frontier Airlines has reported that a “belligerent” passenger hit a flight attendant with the intercom phone after being asked to leave her plane on Sunday morning.

The incident happened before a Frontier flight heading from Denver International Airport to Tampa, Florida.

The rowdy passenger “became belligerent onboard and was asked to deplane,” according to the airline. While she was leaving, she picked up the intercom phone and hit the flight attendant with it.

Police officers arrived to the airport and arrested her on assault charges. She was then cited, released and booked on a flight home, according to a police stattement to USA Today.

The flight eventually took off after nearly four hours, Flight Aware reported.

“Violence has no place anywhere and certainly not in a mode of transportation that requires strict procedures to keep everyone safe,” the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA said in a statement to KDVR.

Stats from the Federal Aviation Authority reported that there have been 670 cases of unruly passengers so far in 2023 as of 14 May. There was a total of 2,455 reports in 2022.
