Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has announced the launch of the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express, a new way to explore the ancient Silk Road.

As part of the 2026 program, this new luxury train offers three exclusive itineraries providing travellers with the opportunity to journey through some of the world’s most remote and historically rich regions in unparalleled comfort.

Continuing founder Tim Littler’s passion for combining luxury and adventure with exciting destinations, his grandson, James Masterson, is now director of product development. James plays a key role in designing the company’s itineraries, seeking out exclusive and innovative experiences to ensure Golden Eagle Luxury Trains remains at the forefront of the luxury rail industry. His leadership and creativity are reflected in the company’s latest achievements, particularly its return to China, with the launch of the Golden Eagle Silk Road Express.

“These new itineraries help travellers explore some of the world’s most fascinating regions,” James Masterson said. “After four years away from China, we are excited to once again offer our guests the chance to experience these magnificent destinations in a truly immersive and luxurious way.”

Overcoming significant challenges, including the global pandemic and the impact of the Ukraine-Russia war, Golden Eagle Luxury Trains has emerged even stronger, pivoting to prioritise new European routes, such as the highly anticipated Paris to Istanbul voyage in 2025, and the revival of the Central Asia collection, which has seen fully booked tours.

To mark its 35th anniversary, the company is returning to the historic Silk Road, a route that once connected East and West, offering a fusion of cultures, traditions, and legendary cities. The Grand Silk Road voyage spans 22 days and 6,500km, taking guests from the imperial capital, Beijing to the cities of Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, and beyond to Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, following the footsteps of ancient traders.

The second itinerary, The China and Tibet Rail Discovery, offers a 13-day expedition into the heart of China and the high-altitude wilderness of Tibet. Travelling from Urumqi to the mystical city of Lhasa, guests visit the ancient bazaars of Kashgar, the striking landscapes of Turpan and Dunhuang, and the sacred Potala Palace in Lhasa, offering a very special travel experience.

Founded in 1989 by rail tourism visionary Tim Littler, the company has built a global reputation for offering exceptional experiences in destinations that few would otherwise have the chance to explore. Over three decades, they have carried close to 30,000 guests across Europe, Asia, and beyond in style, safety and comfort.

“The 35th anniversary marks a significant milestone in our evolutions,” Time Littler said. “The new Golden Eagle Silk Road Express represents the next chapter in our ongoing mission to provide discerning travellers with immersive and luxurious journeys to fascinating destinations.”

Golden Eagle packages are fully inclusive with private ensuite rail accommodation, all exquisite meals and drinks, personal cabin attendant service, fully guided off-train excursions, all gratuities and transfers, plus premium hotels and a UK doctor on board.
