Hot tickets for Jetstar’s new flight from Sydney to Vanuatu
Edited by Travel Weekly

Jetstar’s inaugural flight, JQ123 from Sydney to Vanuatu, will depart at 10.20am this morning, providing the only direct service to the South Pacific paradise.

With up to four flights a week between Sydney and Vanuatu’s capital Port Vila, the airline will offer more than 80,000 low fares seats a year there and back.

The flights will be operated using Jetstar’s fleet of new Airbus A321neo LRs which recently grew to 18 aircraft – with more on the way. Jetstar is offering one-way fares from Sydney to Port Vila (Vanuatu) from just $199 at jetstar.com to celebrate the new route. But the sale ends 11.59pm AEDT Friday 13 December, unless sold out prior.

With a flight time of just three and a half hours, the influx of new visitors from Sydney will help to support and further develop the South Pacific nation’s tourism economy with attractions such as stunning beaches, coral reefs, waterfalls, active volcanos, adventure activities and a rich indigenous culture.

The new service continues Jetstar’s pacific expansion following the launch of flights from Sydney to Rarotonga in the Cook Islands and Melbourne and Fiji in recent years.

Jetstar’s executive manager, customer, Jenn Armor said Vanuatu was recently named one of the top 10 countries to visit in 2025.

“Vanuatu should be on every holidaymaker’s bucket list for its spectacular scenery, captivating island culture and range of outdoor activities,” Armor said.

“Getting to this pacific island paradise is now easier and more affordable than ever with Jetstar offering the only direct flights from Sydney.

“The launch of new budget-friendly services to Vanuatu is part of a significant expansion of Jetstar’s network in 2024 with 14 new routes taking off – four of these launching within a fortnight this month.”

Vanuatu Tourism Office CEO, Adela Issachar Aru said the destination was incredibly excited to see Jetstar’s direct flights from Sydney to Port Vila take off.

“This new direct service from Sydney makes travel to Vanuatu more accessible and affordable. With connections through Jetstar’s broader Australia domestic network, it’s never been easier for Australians to travel,” Aru said.

“Now is the perfect time to explore Vanuatu’s incredible value, diverse experiences and warm hospitality. From relaxing on untouched beaches, swimming in crystal-clear blue holes, diving and snorkelling in pristine waters, soaring through the air on a zipline, or savouring some of the best coffee in the Pacific, there’s something for everyone.

“Visitors will be welcomed into our community-based way of life, offering authentic cultural experiences that leave a lasting impression.

“We can’t wait to welkam Jetstar customers to our shores this holiday season.”
