Hotel X Brisbane’s giant 4-tonne ice bath stunt for wellness – and charity
Edited by Travel Weekly

Hotel X Brisbane has announced it is staging the world’s largest hotel ice bath on 5 December where locals and guests are invited to start the summer right.

The hotel transforms their stunning rooftop pool into a 15m-long bath of ice cubes, framed by 270-degree views of the city skyline. The event reflects the hotels commitment to wellness and providing authentic travel experiences to soak up the creativity and community of vibrant Brisbane.

In partnership with Bells Pure Ice, Hotel X will use four tonnes of ice to fill the rooftop pool for over two hours. Hotel guests can join the ice bath anytime from 6.30am to 8.30am. They can expect an exhilarating plunge in the world’s coolest hotel ice bath. Participants can follow their icy dip with pastries at Iris and beverages from Tea Tonic tea and Allpress coffee. This unique event is a perfect way for guests to invigorate their morning and be a part of the vibrant community moment to kick start summer.

Ice baths have countless wellness benefits such as muscle relief, reducing inflammation, supporting immunity, releasing endorphins, and improving mental health overall. If the wellness benefits alone were not reason enough to join, the takeover is also raising money for a fantastic cause. Funds raised will go to LIVIN, an organisation devoted to breaking the stigma around mental health. Hotel X is proud to support this vitally important cause.

“‘We are grateful for the ongoing support Hotel X shows to LIVIN, raising much needed funds for mental health education programs within our high schools,” LIVIN Founder, Casey Lyons, said. “This ice bath activation is one meaningful way that brings the community together, providing access to the significant health benefits such as boosting the immune system, reducing stress, improving circulation, and aiding exercise recovery.”

Hotel’s elegant rooftop space

The hotel’s elegant pool space is one of the city’s most popular summer meetings spot for locals and guests in Brisbane. It sits alongside the refined Iris Rooftop Bar and Restaurant. Owned and operated by Ghanem Group, the Spanish rooftop venue is one of Fortitude Valley’s most coveted destination to meet, drink and dine. With a menu that rivals the exquisite views, there is no better place to soak up the sun and settle in for a long afternoon of summer vibes and delicious food in one of Brisbane’s most spectacular restaurant venues.

The wellness activation is one of many recent collaborations for the hotel this year as it champions partners across its vibrant city. Hotel X is making a name for its alliances with the most exciting creatives and hospitality brands across its eclectic neighbourhood.

The hotel actively showcases the best local community and cultural experiences to share an authentic slice of urban Brisbane with guests. This year alone, it has orchestrated pop up activations and in-room offerings with local breweries, wellness brands, hospitality providers, yoga studios, tattoo parlours, and sustainability leaders to reflect their place in the pulsing heart of the Valley. It has also supported a variety of local events from music festivals to arts events, accessibility events, and partnered with music studios and promoters.

“At Hotel X, our daily dose of inspiration comes from our lively local community,” Hotel X general manager Jeremy Colahan said.

“We are so proud of the rich and diverse range of partnerships we have created this year. These partnerships are the perfect embodiment of our dedication to celebrating incredible neighbours in the heart of creative Brisbane. We want our guests to savour every delicious bit of Fortitude Valley. When you stay at Hotel X, expect to be immersed in all the hidden pockets of our electric and colourful community.”
