How to sneak extra luggage on your flight

The Airport Jacket will provide a practical, stylish solution to frequent flyers all over the world, with modular features designed to hold up to 15 kilograms of luggage.

The Founders of Juice Promotions Australia launched, what they call, the world’s most stylish modular luggage jacket – ‘The Airport Jacket’ – on Kickstarter.com last month.

The Airport Jacket is a coat made of several discreetly integrated compartments that can hold and carry up to 15 kilograms of carry-on luggage! With the option to wear it three ways, including hip length (holds 3 kilograms of luggage), ¾ length (holds an additional 6 kilograms of luggage) and full length (holds another 6 kilograms of luggage), The Airport Jacket is wearable luggage for the frequent flyer, allowing you to beat the baggage queues, escape excess baggage fees and eliminate lost luggage!

The Airport Jacket allows modern travellers to carry extra luggage onto an airplane without facing the financial consequences of exceeding the cabin baggage limit – all whilst epitomising airport chic. Hallelujah!

Totalling 14 deep pockets, including 8 pockets at hip length, 11 pockets at ¾ length and 14 pockets at full length. It includes 2 detachable pocket panels, and a carry on size duffle bag. When worn at full length The Airport Jacket is capable of concealing approximately two laptops, an iPad, two pairs of shoes, a pair of jeans, five t-shirts, a jumper and a camera. Wearers need simply slide their luggage into the jacket pockets when checking in and boarding the flight, and once safely off the plane the jacket can easily be unzipped and transformed into a duffle bag capable of holding both the jacket plus all items in the pockets.

“Essentially this coat would allow you to carry onboard everything you would need for an overnight or long weekend stay without worrying about your luggage getting lost or paying excessive baggage fees,” product designer Andy Benke said.

“It also saves time in that there is no need to collect checked-in baggage. Perfect for the business executive, mums on-the- go or anyone in a rush!”

A former fashion designer and frequent traveller herself, co-designer, Claire Murphy noticed that while a small number of luggage jackets are available already in the market, none offer the stylish design and capability for concealment that The Airport Jacket offers consumers.

“There really is a large gap in the market in terms of a jacket that does it all while looking fashionable – and in that respect The Airport Jacket is unrivalled,” Murphy said.

Catering to all climates around the world, The Airport Jacket ranges from XS – 4XL and is available in black and in 4 styles, including 2 spring/summer styles and 2 winter styles for both men and women. The material used the spring/summer collection is a light weight water resistant 600D Polyester whilst the winter collection is 460g doubled layer 100% wool.

The Airport Jacket is launching worldwide for 60 days from January, 2017 on www.kickstarter.com. The entrepreneurs behind the project are seeking AUD$100,000 to go global and are offering ‘pledgers’ early bird specials of AUD $239 for Summer styles and AUD $299 for Winter styles to back the vision and make it come to life!
