Ingenia Holiday Parks has started plans to make it easier for electric vehicle drivers to explore Australia’s east coast with their expanded EV charging network.

By the end of 2024, Ingenia Holiday Parks will have installed 44 new EV charging ports across 11 of its parks, enabling seamless travel from Brisbane in Queensland to Eden or Wagga Wagga in NSW.

Building on the success of its initial rollout of five public EV chargers across three parks in 2023, Ingenia Holiday Parks secured funding from Round 2 of the NSW Electric Vehicle Destination Grants to install the additional 44 charging ports this year.

The expanded EV infrastructure, expected to be fully operational ahead of the upcoming summer school break, includes 28 new chargers on individual cabins, allowing guests to book accommodation with their own private charging station. Sites that will have EV chargers installed include:

  • Ingenia Holidays Byron Bay
  • Ingenia Holidays One Mile Beach
  • BIG4 Ingenia Holidays Soldiers Point
  • Ingenia Holidays Wagga Wagga

“We are thrilled to be expanding our EV charging network to meet the growing demand from electric vehicle drivers,” Ingenia Holiday Parks executive general manager tourism, Matthew Young, said.

“This initiative not only supports sustainable tourism but also enhances the convenience and experience of exploring Australia’s regional gems. Whether guests are recharging their car at one of our parks or enjoying the added benefit of a private cabin charger, we’re making EV travel more accessible than ever.”

Ingenia Holiday Parks’ EV initiative not only caters to the growing EV tourism sector but also reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability. The charging service is designed to both reduce energy emissions and provide accurate ESG data.

Since the installation of its first chargers in March 2023, Ingenia Holiday Parks has reduced significant usage, with EV drivers utilising 4.2MWh of electricity to date. This includes 786kWh across nine chargers in FYQ1 and a further 1.1MWh across 13 chargers in FYQ2 (October).

With over 30 holiday parks along Australia’s East Coast, spanning from the Great Barrier Reef to the Great Ocean Road, Ingenia Holiday Parks offer an array of locations for every Aussie family holiday.

Whether guests are planning a family trip these school holidays, a romantic getaway or even a holiday with friends, there are options to suit everyone at Ingenia Holiday Parks.
