Intrepid and Lucinda Light launch Daintree travel experience

Where new data from Intrepid reveals 85 per cent of Australians feel compelled to accept social invitations out of obligation, Find Your Light with Intrepid offers a refreshing alternative.

This trip is an invitation to connect deeply, explore authentically, and embrace the light within.

In a world of constant connectivity, new research conducted by Intrepid has revealed Australians are feeling overwhelmed by the demands on their time, with many finding it hard to set boundaries in their personal and professional lives.

In a survey of 1,004 Australians, the research revealed that 85 per cent of people are saying yes to social, family and work invitations that they would rather say no to, often at the expense of their personal wellbeing. The data highlights a notable gender gap, with 53 per cent of women feeling compelled by obligation to accept invitations they’d rather decline, compared to 42 per cent of men.

When asked about which types of invitations they would most like to decline, 40 per cent pointed to social and work commitments, while 30 per cent cited family obligations. On the flip side, when Australians were asked what they wish they could say ‘yes’ to more often, 54 per cent responded with travel, 41 per cent with self-care, and 36 per cent with spending time with friends.

To support this growing desire for taking time for oneself, Intrepid has teamed up with Married at First Sight star, former Intrepid tour leader and self-love advocate, Lucinda Light, to launch Find Your Light: Daintree & Cape Tribulation Adventure – a soul-nurturing journey designed to bring people together in a shared adventure of self-discovery, wellness and community.

This one-of-a-kind small group tour, co-designed by Light and Intrepid, will invite guests to connect with Australia’s stunning landscape in Far North Queensland’s rich culture and ultimately, each other. From 30 May to 5 June 2025, Lucinda will guide an exclusive group of 16 travellers through a thoughtfully curated seven-day itinerary to explore the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, offering an abundance of activities designed to fill the cup of those seeking respite from the day to day.

Each day will begin with Lucinda’s signature wellness practices — from a guided earthing session and soul walk in the Daintree rainforest, to an immersive talk on emotional intelligence and wellness — the experience is designed to ground guests, connect them with nature, invite calm reflection and offer a blend of nature immersion, inner exploration and community bonding.

“Travel can be incredibly healing when done with intention, and it has a magical way of shifting our perspectives. By stepping outside of our daily routines, we open ourselves up to new experiences and possibilities that can shape who we are and how we see the world,” said Light.

The need for self-care was a common theme throughout the survey results, resonating especially strongly among women, with 52 per cent expressing a desire to prioritise self-care activities, compared to only 28 per cent of men. This data underscores the unique pressures women face and their longing for more opportunities to focus on personal wellbeing.

“This journey is about taking time to reconnect, not just with each other but also with ourselves. It’s a chance to leave behind social obligations and self-imposed pressures, and instead say ‘yes’ to something truly nourishing,” said Light.

The survey also revealed that 1 in 10 Australians (10 per cent) felt they didn’t have anyone to travel with and 7 per cent said they don’t have time to plan a trip.

“We know Aussies are seeking out more immersive experiences that take them out of their daily routines and get them out there exploring, but with many of us feeling time poor, it’s getting harder and harder to prioritise the things that are truly important,” said Brett Mitchell, managing director ANZ at Intrepid.

“By encouraging people to travel closer to home, we’re not only reducing travel time and maximising annual leave, but also offering a unique opportunity to connect more deeply with Australia’s landscapes, cultures, and communities.”
