Intrepid Travel appoints Yvette Thompson as general manager sales & marketing ANZ
Edited by Travel Weekly

Intrepid Travel has announced the appointment of Yvette Thompson as general manager of sales and marketing ANZ, a newly created role reflecting the substantial growth of the ANZ region.

In her role, Thompson will draw on her 15 years of experience within the travel industry. Bringing a wealth of experience and strong relationships, in this role she will deliver the strategic oversight of the entire sales and marketing function for ANZ, including overseeing the industry and partnerships sector.

Brett Mitchell, managing director of Intrepid Travel ANZ, said, “Yvette has been with the company for over a decade and has made an incredible contribution to growing the ANZ region and representing the brand, our values, and our culture. We had a huge number of excellent applicants for the role, and after an extensive search, I’m excited to announce this internal promotion.”.”

Thompson said, “I’m thrilled to embark on this new role within the Sales and Marketing team to help strategically grow the ANZ region. While I have absolutely loved my time leading the ANZ partnerships team, I am looking forward to widening my scope of impact and to helping the business achieve our ambitious 2030 goals.”

The creation of this new role further supports Intrepid’s 2030 Strategy, which has a global ambition to double its global customer base to 600,000, achieve revenues of $1.3bn, and contribute 1 per cent of revenue to purpose initiatives. The business also has plans to deepen its vertical integration to expand into areas outside of tours, including accommodation and publishing.

This appointment combines with Intrepid’s recent additional investments in the growth of the ANZ business, with the recent appointment of Thomas Bray as partnerships & project manager NZ and the promotion of Abbe Lunn to senior key partnerships manager.

Thompson will commence her new role on 1 May and Intrepid is now on the hunt for her replacement role – a head of sales & partnerships ANZ.
