Kiwi tourist found dead in Bali hotel pool

A New Zealand tourist has been found dead in the swimming pool of a Bali resort.

Adam Bascombe, aged in his 30s, was reportedly found by a Swiss tourist on 28 January.

According to a givealittle campaign set up by his friend, Chris Francis, it is believed Bascombe drowned.

“His sudden death in Bali will certainly have a financial impact on his family and all of us that love this man want to show our love and appreciation as he would have done the same for any of us,” Francis said on the campaign page.

Details around Bascombe’s death are vague, but reports indicate he was based in Auckland before moving to Byron Bay and was travelling in Bali for his birthday when the drowning accident occurred.

“Adam was a man who loved life. He was always full of energy and put others before himself. His infectious laugh and charisma always made those around him fell welcomed and his extraordinary ability to look at the positive in any situation. But now we have lost that light from a truly loved human,” Francis said.

The target of the fundraising campaign is $20,000 which Francis said will be used to cover the cost of repatriation and Bascombe’s funeral.
