The luxurious five-star The Star Grand Brisbane at Queen’s Wharf, one of the most anticipated resort openings of the year, has officially opened hotel bookings for stays from 29 August 2024.

The resort, within the $3.6 billion Queen’s Wharf precinct, features a five-star 340-key hotel, The Star Grand, at the heart of the transformational development.

The Star Brisbane will eventually deliver four future world-class hotels, myriad new restaurants, bars and entertainment experiences and luxury retail. There is also the Sky Deck showpiece, a 250m rooftop runway of restaurants and bars floating 100m above the Brisbane River and the resort’s Leisure Deck, a 12,000sqm open-air oasis which delivers two football fields of public space.

The Star Grand, meanwhile, offers every hotel guest a slice of luxury with rooms ranging from the contemporary River King and City King Rooms to the sophisticated open-plan River and City Suites, opulent Skyline City Suites and four exquisite Skyline Penthouse Suites.

The Star Brisbane CEO, Daniel Finch, said the launch of hotel bookings marked a pivotal milestone in the resort’s multi-staged opening, with The Star Grand part of a collection of dining and leisure experiences.

“As the team prepare to unveil a destination almost a decade in the making, we are thrilled to invite guests of The Star Grand hotel to be among the first to experience the grand possibilities that await,” Finch said.

“The Star Grand’s floor-to-ceiling windows will serve as a spectacular vantage point to capture the electrifying displays of Brisbane Festival, before we kick into Footy Finals, Melbourne Cup and all the festivities of Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

“With venue openings rolling out over the coming months, our returning guests will have the opportunity to enjoy new experiences each time they visit including a wide range of culinary delights and the unveiling of our hotel pools, steam room, sauna and gym in time for summer.

“The Star Grand’s place within The Star Brisbane and wider Queen’s Wharf precinct will add a new dimension to the city, strengthening Brisbane’s competitive advantage and providing domestic and international visitors even more compelling reasons to visit Queensland ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Nestled amongst a world of discovery, The Star Grand will become the gateway to a vast range of experiences throughout the new 12-hectare riverside precinct, inviting locals and visitors to explore the best Brisbane has on offer.

Guests will be treated to a stay unlike any other from the moment they arrive; a breathtaking 21-metre glass oculus welcoming Brisbane’s warmth and light into the resort’s grand entrance where First Nations artist Tony Albert’s enormous 15-metre floating botanical sculpture Inhabitant takes pride of place.

A bespoke hand-made glass Lasvit lighting installation greets guests on entry to the lobby, as their senses are tantalised by the sights, sounds and smells of The Star’s award-winning Japanese restaurant, Sokyo. On checking in, they ascend through the resort where the hotel occupies Levels 8 to 17 across two river-facing towers.

Leading international design studio Hassell drew inspiration from the resort’s subtropical landscape, mimicking the ripples of the Brisbane River through extraordinary Calacatta Viola marble and the curves of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs throughout the design of each room. Australian art highlights includes bespoke pieces by Brisbane-based artist Anita West, Noosa’s Michael Whitehead, Northern River’s Jane Hoggard and proud Gumbaynggir and Bundjalung artist, Charmaine Davis.

The 340 rooms within The Star Grand Brisbane begin with 276 standard rooms encompassing the City King, City Twin and River King rooms. Guests can opt for river or city views, with each room featuring The Star’s signature range of bedding, dual rain showerhead and integrated in-room technology that allows hotel guests to customise lighting, drapery and temperature at the touch of a button.

The hotel also offers 60 lavish suites which include 28 River Suites, 28 City Suites and four Skyline City Suites. Ranging between 75-113sqm in size, each offers a spacious open-plan living area, king bed and a stunning bathroom with a luxurious freestanding bathtub.

    Luke Nguyen’s offers Fat Noodle.

Spanning across the top two levels, four exquisite 217sqm Skyline Penthouse Suites complete the five-star offering. They feature an open-plan lounge and dining area, two private guest retreats each with their own ensuite and an oversized bathtub where guests can soak in sunset skies, plus kitchenette, complete with a butler’s pantry and separate staff entrance.

The remainder of the precinct including the Sky Deck, riverfront parklands and public art trails are set to progressively launch from 29 August into late 2024. Additional venues destined for The Star Brisbane Cucina Regina, Black Hide Steak & Seafood by Gambaro and Azteca (by Potentia Solutions Leisure) announced for The Terrace; celebrity chef Luke Nguyen’s dynamic Asian street food favourite Fat Noodle, live entertainment venue LiveWire and a Sports Bar on the Casino floor; and Sky Deck’s Aloria, Babblers and Cicada Blu.
