Making an Icon: A first look at the neighbourhood designed by Royal Caribbean crew
Edited by Travel Weekly

In today’s premiere of “Making an Icon: Creating the Crew’s Neighbourhood,” Royal Caribbean International recognises those at the core of every holiday – the crew. This episode gives the first look at the neighbourhood designed by the crew for the crew.

Go behind the scenes to explore how Royal Caribbean crew members, representing a cross-section of departments on board, took a blank slate and worked with Icon’s team of experts to create elevated and net-new spaces to live, work, relax and game. The world’s best holiday brought to life by the best crew in the world will have the home away from home to match.

Over 1,000 crew members collaborated with architects, designers and more for months to design places and experiences that balance functionality, practicality, comfort and privacy. The result? Royal Caribbean’s first patented room, multifunctional spaces to work and celebrate together, and more ways to hang out and make their own memories.

The neighbourhood features an enhanced Crew Windjammer, a Clubhouse with its own coffee shop, a pub, a crew market with items from their home countries, a gaming room, a gym, a cross-functional space perfect for karaoke, and outdoor spaces to take in the views and grab a drink.
