Midweek Interview with Brooke Gabriel, Industry Sales Manager Qld/NSW – Contiki

The challenge for the industry is…. Uncertainty.

The things I like about my job… Every day is different. I love talking about my travel experiences and promoting a product I truly believe in.

And the frustrations are … I never have enough time, and TRAFFIC.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be… Travelling.

Favourite airline? This is a little tricky. I’ve had great experiences on many airlines but I really do love Singapore Airlines.

My proudest moment was… Becoming an aunty. (I know I’m a sucker but he’s just too cute). But if we are talking work related, I think being nominated for 2014 ‘Rookie of theYear’ in my first three months of working at Contiki. It made me feel like I was doing something right.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was… Hmmmm… this is hard. I can be a little naughty at timesI’ve definitely skinny dipped all around the world, for example.

I try to relax by… Going to the beach. I live 200 metres from the beach and this is a place I try and visit every day. I am also a bit of a writer and often write down my thoughts to take my fuzzy head to a happy place.

The last time I feared for my life was… When I thought I was running from a tsunami. I’m actually not even exaggerating. I was in Thailand and the sirens were roaring and I was running for the hills. I even lost my shoes!

If I can, I always try to avoid… Conflict. I hate it.

I really wish I had… A six pack. I really want a ripped stomach.

The best advice I’ve ever received was… With passion comes success. I was studying fashion and that never went anywhere, but my teacher was a bit of a legend and told me that ‘with passion comes success’. She was 100% correct! So that’s what I did. I started following my gut and started working in an industry that I was truly passionate about…travel.

I don’t understand why people… Are negative. We all have our moments. But snap out of it. We are all so lucky to be living in this amazing world. Embrace it!

My greatest weakness is… My indecisiveness. It can be so frustrating!

And my greatest strength is… My honesty and great sense of humour.

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would… Buy my mum a house on the beach.

If I was prime minister I would… RULE THE WORLD, Beyonce-style. To be honest I have no idea.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be a… Boy. Seriously, I would love to know what goes on in their heads.

I’ve always wanted to travel to… Everywhere. I have always wanted to sail Croatia. Explore more of Central/South America and volunteer at an elephant conservation.

My favourite holiday was… My most recent travels to Mexico, Belize and Guatemala. I felt invincible and came back a little more wise.
