Midweek Interview with TravelCube’s Teagan Greentree

This week, we followed Teagan Greentree, Key Account Manager from TravelCube, around until she told us to go away. Okay fine, we just interviewed her.

The challenge for the industry is…

Keeping pace with rapid changes in technology, an exercise that is exciting but costly!

The things I like about my job…

Building relationships with my clients and colleagues (both equally important), as well as working for such a globally respected company as GTA.

And the frustrations are…

Educating consumers to book through the right/best channels – cheap is not always best.

If I didn’t work in travel I would be…

An Ambulance driver – I love helping people and I can remain calm in most situations.

Favourite airline?

Jetstar – I love a domestic bargin and I’ve never been delayed (touch wood).

My proudest moment was…

Apart from securing my new role, buying my first home with my husband in March.

The naughtiest thing I ever did was…

When I was a teenager working at Mcdonald’s we’d put vodka in our frozen coke and sip on them an hour or so before close so we were ready to head straight out!

I try to relax by…

Yoga, followed by a swim at the beach.

The last time I feared for my life was…

When I was grabbed by a stranger in Termini Station in Rome. I turned around, mouth wide open in shock, and the man just raised his eyebrowns and smirked at me. It felt like forever before my cousin grabbed my hand and we ran upstairs and out of the exit. We opted to catch the bus back to our accommodation!

If I can, I always try to avoid…

Dwelling on the past or situations I can’t change.

I really wish I had…

The ability to slow down time, for two reasons – to soak up as much quality time with my loved ones, and to fit in everything I want to do for ME before I have a family of my own.

The best advice I’ve ever received was…

“If you haven’t expressed an emotion, you haven’t felt it at all”.

I don’t understand why people…

Don’t do a job they love! You spend eight hours of your day, five days a week at work, there is not enough time in this life to be unhappy. Do a job that when someone asks ‘what do you do’ you’re proud and happy to talk about.

My greatest weakness is…

Always trying to go above and beyond, knowing full well that sometimes just the minimum is required.

And my greatest strength is…

Talking… that can sometimes be my weakness too!

If I won a $1 million lottery (aside from travelling), I would…

Invest half into shares and housing and spend the rest on my family.

If I could be someone else for one day I would be…

Pink (Alicia Moore).

I’ve always wanted to travel to…

Central America.

My favourite holiday was…

A month in Europe on my own doing Busabout when I was 24.
