The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has officially launched in Sydney, marking a significant milestone in strengthening tourism between Morocco and Australia.

Held at Sir Stamford Circular Quay Hotel, the culturally immersive event drew an audience of 100 prominent tour operators and travel agents. Attendees enjoyed a captivating evening filled with traditional Moroccan music, henna artists, exquisite cuisine and an atmosphere rich with Moroccan flair.

It featured presentations from key figures, including the director of ONMT, Chakib Ghadouani, and representatives from their Australian partners. The presentations highlighted the abundant opportunities that Morocco offers as a premier travel destination with its unique cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and diverse experiences.

“The establishment of the Moroccan National Tourism Office in Australia represents a new chapter in promoting Morocco’s vibrant tourism sector to Australian travellers. We are excited to showcase the beauty and diversity of Morocco and look forward to welcoming more Australians to experience our rich culture and hospitality,” Ghadouani said.

Organisers said the launch event was a resounding success, leaving attendees inspired and eager to explore the wonders of Morocco. Approximately 25,000 Australians visit Morocco each year and according to future forecasts, this number is increasing on a yearly basis.

“Morocco’s prime geographic location makes it highly accessible from various parts of Africa,” Crooked Compass Founder, Lisa Pagotto, said. “Our clients often extend their travels from neighbouring countries and immerse themselves in the exotic allure of Morocco, appreciating the welcoming and safe environment.”

Qatar Airways’ senior account manager, Stella Vlahos, also addressed the audience, discussing the growing accessibility and connectivity between Australia and Morocco, making travel to this enchanting destination more convenient than ever.
