Now that’s what you call yogi bear! The Hike Collective introduces ‘Zen in the Zoo’

Do you love animals? Do you love yoga? Well, now you can enjoy both in one place with the introduction of The Hike Collective’s ‘Zen in the Zoo’.

From just $69 guests can access Perth Zoo for two hours before it opens for a special animal-themed mini wellness retreat.

The 2-hour tour begins with a walk through the rainforest and is followed by a 45-minute beginner-friendly yoga session in the presence of an elephant.

The session finishes with a walk through the African savannah and Australian bushland, where guests can see Perth Zoo’s selection of animals including lions, meerkats, pandas and koalas.

Introducing the tour on LinkedIn, founder and managing director of The Hike Collective, Kate Gibson, said the offering will help people connect more deeply with nature.

“This tour is not just a tour; it represents our evolving approach to wellness tourism—one that emphasises slowing down, connecting deeply with the natural world, and finding stillness in unexpected places.”

“It also highlights our ongoing commitment to conservation and bringing awareness through tourism of the incredible work our partners are doing.”

The tour was made in partnership with Tourism Western Australia and Perth Zoo.

Guests are recommended to bring a yoga mat, comfortable shoes, a water bottle and sun protection.

Gibson set up The Hike Collective in November 2016 and is also a lecturer at TAFE where she is helping to shape the future of Australian tourism.

The Hike Collective is described as “a Perth Based Hiking tour company, providing micro-adventures for your daily life”.
