Now you can do yoga on a plane

Ever wanted to get up on a long flight and stretch your legs? What about really stretch not only your legs, but your whole body?
In case you didn’t get where we were going with that, you can do now yoga on Cathay Pacific flights – and from in your seat no less.
According to The Drum, Cathay Pacific has just partnered with Pure Yoga. The result? A selection of its in-flight content is now dedicated to both yoga and meditation – and it’s called ‘Travel Well with Yoga’.
This is just one part of Cathay’s ‘Life Well Travelled’ campaign, which also includes fitted mattresses, soft natural fabric duvets, and extra pillows in First Class, seasonal dining and extra storage options in Economy Class.
‘Travel Well with Yoga’ shows travellers different exercises to do before, during and after their flight – which will, in turn, make them more comfortable in general whilst flying.
Travellers can access the instructional videos on all flights and routes with Cathay – all of which have been created by professional instructors from Pure Yoga. The tutorials are led by founding teacher Patrick Creelman and senior instructor and co-founder Almen Wong, so you know you’re in professional hands (and that you aren’t going to pop out a shoulder).
Simon Cuthbert, the Cathay Pacific entertainment, platforms and connectivity manager, told The Drum that Yoga was an “innovative” way to help travellers move more, especially on longer flights.
“We all know that sitting still for a long period of time can be uncomfortable. The need to get up, move and get your blood pumping is important during a flight,” he said.
“Yoga is an innovative way to do this. There are a series of exercises that can easily be done from an economy class seat whilst other moves are suitable for after the flight in your hotel.”
The best bit? If you’re a Cathay Pacific Marco Polo Club member, Pure Yoga is offering you a ton of discounts and trials for its studios in Asia. You know, in case you want to really stretch your legs off the plane too.
