New Qantas CEO’s salary revealed!

Qantas’ soon-to-be chief executive Vanessa Hudson will receive a base salary of $1.6 million when she assumes the position in November.

Hudson’s take home pay can reach in excess of $5.8 million, subject to achieving operational and share-price objectives. Hudson  will additionally will be entitled to four long-haul and 12 short-haul trips annually.

Remuneration for Qantas CEO is voted upon in their annual general meeting each November. As reported in The Sydney Morning Herald:

“Hudson’s base salary will be 25 per cent lower than outgoing chief Joyce, who is paid $2.2 million, and her target total remuneration figure is about 30 per cent lower than his $8.4 million”.

Likewise, Joyce was paid 24 per cent less than his predecessor, Geoff Dixon.

Joyce remains qualified for a $15.2 million bonus payout at the conclusion of this fiscal year after deferring his long-term incentives for the past three years.

Additionally, Joyce may be able to realise up to $4.5 million in short-term bonuses, contingent on the board’s evaluation in August.
