Qatar Airways hosted a gala dinner at Melbourne’s Park Hyatt Hotel in celebration of 15 years of service in Australia with a commemorative menu featuring some of the best native Australian flavours and local ingredients.

The menu is available from 1 October to 15 December 2024 onboard Qatar Airways Business Class.

Qatar Airways started its Australian operation in 2009 on its Melbourne to Doha route. Since then, the airline has extended its network, operating to five key cities including Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide, with 42 weekly flights.

“We are deeply committed to the Australian market, and the past 15 years have been an incredible journey for us in the country,” Qatar Airways senior vice president for international sales, Paul Starrs, said.

“Qatar Airways has been proud to support a range of Australian businesses, charitable causes, sporting organisations and the Australian travelling public. This gala dinner gave us the opportunity to thank everyone who has supported us in return and has made this milestone possible.”

The airline has been a key partner of the Sydney Swans for the past eight years and has been active in supporting local community charities and sporting events such as the Good Friday Appeal, Formula One Australian Grand Prix, MotoGP and more. In 2025, Qatar Airways will also be the title partner of the British & Irish Lions Tour, which will arrive in the country in June next year.

Qatar offers travel from Australia to more than 49 destinations across Europe and the UK, 29 destinations across Africa, 33 destinations across the Middle East, 13 destinations across North and South America, and many more.

Qatar achieved the “World’s Best Business Class” award for the eleventh time in 2024, in addition to being awarded “World’s Best Airline”” for a record-breaking eighth time in 2024. They continue to be synonymous with excellence, taking home both the “World’s Best Business Class Lounge” and “Best Airline in the Middle East” awards. Qatar Airways currently flies to over 170 destinations worldwide, via one seamless connection through Hamad International Airport, the “World’s Best Airport”, as voted by Skytrax in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

During the COVID-19 global pandemic, Qatar Airways was committed to serving the Australian market and helped repatriate over 180,000 passengers in and out of Australia by maintaining daily services between Sydney, Melbourne, and Doha. Most recently, they operated a repatriation flight this month in partnership with the Australian government to help fly Australians out of Cyprus.
