We’re calling it, 2024 is the year for solo travel, and thanks to new data from Smoky Mountains, we can reveal the top ten destinations for travellers going it alone this year.

Solo travel can be a transformative experience for so many reasons, but some of the most commonly highlighted are:

  • Personal Growth: Solo travel challenges you to step out of your comfort zone, leading to personal growth and development. You learn to rely on yourself, become more independent, and gain confidence in your abilities to navigate unfamiliar situations.
  • Freedom and Flexibility: When you travel solo, you have the freedom to go wherever you want, whenever you want, without having to compromise with others’ preferences. This flexibility allows you to tailor your trip to suit your interests and pace.
  • Self-Discovery: Solo travel provides an opportunity for self-reflection and introspection. Being alone in a new environment allows you to disconnect from the distractions of everyday life and gain insights into yourself, your values, and what truly matters to you.
  • Freedom to Reflect: Solo travel provides ample time for reflection, allowing you to gain perspective on your life, goals, and aspirations. Whether journaling about your experiences, meditating in serene surroundings, or simply contemplating the beauty of the world around you, solo travel offers opportunities for meaningful introspection.
