Travel Weekly were recently invited to stay in the epitome of coastal luxury at Bangalay Luxury Villas, Shoalhaven Heads.
This exclusive retreat is conveniently located just two hours’ drive south of Sydney and offers guests an experience grounded in natural beauty, complimented by unparalleled hospitality and service.
From the meticulously designed villas to the exquisite dining and contemporary facilities, every moment at Bangalay was a testament to opulence. Join us as we recount our sojourn, offering a glimpse into a haven where sophistication meets serenity.
The Property
Nestled in the pristine coastal beauty of Shoalhaven Heads, Bangalay Luxury Villas opened in October 2018 and offers a tranquil escape to discerning guests. The property features 14 x 1-bedroom villas, 2 x 2-bedroom villas and exudes a sense of exclusivity, surrounded by lush Australian native landscapes and the sounds of the Pacific Ocean. From the moment we arrived, the attention to detail in the design and landscaping of the property was evident.
The Accommodation
Our villa at Bangalay was a haven of comfort and sophistication, inspired by nature. Spacious, fully self-contained and thoughtfully designed, the architecture seamlessly blends modern interiors with the natural beauty of the surroundings.
The attention to detail in furnishings, from plush bedding and a generous fireplace to tasteful contemporary décor embodies the definition of refined luxury. The private North facing terrace provided a private space to unwind, and the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine at sunset.
The Dining Experience
The on-site dining experience at Bangalay was a culinary masterpiece. The restaurants commitment to showcasing local, native and foraged ingredients was evident in every dish. The menu, expertly crafted by the talented Executive Chef Simon Evans, offers a diverse range of options, catering to various palates.
The dining experience was enhanced by attentive staff who were both knowledgeable about the menu and passionate about delivering flawless and discrete service.
The Facilities
Bangalay Luxury Villas goes beyond the expected with its impressive array of amenities. You can order from the in-room spa menu or just bliss out by the pool, which is surrounded by lush greenery and native flora, offering a tranquil retreat for guests seeking escape.
Additionally, the property boasts a golf course, providing entertainment for both avid golfers and those looking to try their hand at the sport. The attention to maintaining the grounds and facilities was apparent, ensuring that every aspect of our stay was met with the utmost care.
The Location
Shoalhaven Heads offers a perfect blend of coastal serenity and accessibility. Just a short drive from Sydney, the location allows for a seamless escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The nearby Seven Mile Beach is a picturesque stretch of golden sand, perfect for leisurely strolls or invigorating swims. The surrounding region also offers opportunities for exploring local wineries and discovering the natural beauty of the area.
Community
Bangalay is a key employer of local high school students, with around 20 currently working across kitchen, restaurant, maintenance, and housekeeping. The property has developed strategic industry partnerships and programs like the South Coast Centre of Excellence – funded by the bushfire recovery initiative – to engage and employ local students. These initiatives connect students to tourism and hospitality businesses, alleviating staffing shortages and fostering a skilled workforce for global management roles.
Bangalay Luxury Villas at Shoalhaven Heads exceeded our expectations in every aspect. The property’s meticulous design, luxurious accommodation, exceptional dining, and the idyllic location make it a standout choice for to those seeking a refined escape in the heart of coastal paradise.
