South African Airways increases Johannesburg and Mauritius flight frequency
Edited by Travel Weekly

South African Airways (SAA) has increased the number of flights to Mauritius from Johannesburg to meet growing demand from travellers between South Africa and the popular tropical destination.

The national flag carrier relaunched its services to Mauritius in November 2021 with a daily morning flight. They are also adding another morning flight between Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport and Mauritius.

SAA flights begin 1 December 2024 with two daily morning departures from Johannesburg between the two destinations.

Johannesburg to Mauritius

  • SA190 departs at 9.40am and arrives at 3.40pm
  • SA192 departs at 10.45 and arrives at 4.45pm

Mauritius to Johannesburg

  • SA191 departs at 4.30pm and arrives at 6.55pm
  • SA193 departs at 5.35pm and arrives at 8pm

“Our decision to increase the frequency of flights to Mauritius was driven by demand leisure and business travellers,” SAA’s interim chief commercial officer, Tebogo Tsimane, said.

“Mauritius has long been a favoured holiday destination for South Africans, providing a tropical island holiday experience and is just four hours away from Johannesburg. Mauritius is also an important investment destination and financial services hub, with many major South African companies and brands expanding their operations on the island.

“As intra-African trade gains traction on the back of the African Continental Free Trade Area – SAA plans to be the premium airline of choice to connect Africans and transport goods. The Africa region presents exciting growth opportunities and is pivotal in our future plans,” Tsimane concluded.
