Southern Cross Travel Insurance named as a finalist in the ITIJ Awards
Edited by Travel Weekly

Southern Cross Travel Insurance (SCTI) was named as a finalist in the 2024 ITIJ Awards for International Travel & Health Insurer of the Year.

This marks the third consecutive year for the organisation to be recognised globally in this category, with the travel insurer winning the top prize in 2022. With over 40 years of experience looking after millions of travellers worldwide, SCTI’s success comes down to a key consideration.

Chief executive office for SCTI, Jo McCauley, said: “Our customers’ needs are absolutely front and centre of all the decisions we make. Our response to exceptional growth in the post-pandemic revival has been to really tap into what our customers need and want from a travel insurer as they head out on adventures both overseas and at home.

“New products, new benefits, refreshed plain language policy documents, enhanced engagement through greater automation and self-service functionality, and a relentless focus on delivering outstanding customer service have seen us experience almost 30 per cent growth in policy sales, and an NPS of over 50 per cent vs a market level of 31 per cent.”

SCTI’s research showed customers in New Zealand and Australia prize travel as one of the most important things on which they spend their discretionary income, and they seek to protect that investment with quality insurance products.

Jo McCauley adds: “Whether they’re looking for a policy with flexible cover options for holidays or working, both overseas or domestically, SCTI has proven, award-winning options and a fabulous team backing them up. I couldn’t be prouder of what we do every day to support our customers’ travel experiences.

“Whilst we’re delighted to be finalists yet again in the ITIJ Awards, we’ve also won multiple others including Canstar Awards for Outstanding Value, Mozo Experts Choice Awards for exceptional value and Reader’s Digest Awards for Most Trusted and Quality Service, year on year. Our customers have rated us with a 4.7-star rating (out of 5) from 3,053 reviews on ProductReview.com.au and this year we were awarded 2024 Best Travel Insurance for the sixth time.”
