New Booking.com data has revealed Aussie travellers are looking for more than just sport in France this summer as Paris gears up for the 33rd Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It comes as no surprise that travellers are looking to explore the quintessential cheese, wine and galleries of other French destinations, but some destinations have seen huge increases in popularity.

Paris remains the No.1 city for Australian travellers.

Search data highlights a whopping 210 per cent increase in Australian travellers searching for accommodation in Strasbourg from last year, with those architecturally inclined seeking the gothic imaginings of the Notre-Dame.

Aussies can never resist a beach holiday however, and Booking.com recorded a 70 per cent increase in searches for Marseille, a coastal town nestled within France’s stunning Provence region, for ray seekers.
