Sydney Zombie Walk is back for 2024
Edited by Travel Weekly

The Sydney Zombie Walk is back for 2024. The walk is an annual charity event where people get dressed as zombies and walk the streets of Sydney.

On the eerily bright afternoon of Saturday, 2nd November 2024, St Mary’s Cathedral Square will transform into a ghastly gathering place for the living dead. The event kicks off at noon, with makeup stands ready to work their gory magic from 10am.

The main event commences at 2pm. The walk itself is a zombie conga line of epic proportions, snaking through the city’s most picturesque areas. Starting at the hauntingly beautiful Cathedral Square, the zombies will walk down College Street, a path fraught with the echoes of scholarly pasts now overrun by the ravenous appetites of the undead. Then, it’s onto Hyde Park, where the greenery will serve as a stark contrast to the pallid faces and tattered clothes of the zombie hoard.

At the end of the walk there is a full-blown festival of the undead, complete with stalls offering a smorgasbord of delights for both the living and the reanimated. Think brain-themed snacks, zombie paraphernalia, and maybe even some emergency survival gear for those who didn’t get the memo about the zombie apocalypse being a charity event. And let’s not forget the cosplay competitions, where the most dedicated of zombie fans can show off their creativity and attention to detail.

As you make your way through the city, you’ll be raising funds and awareness for a charity that’s close to the cold, decaying hearts of the organizers. So, while you’re having the time of your afterlife, remember that every moan and groan is also a cry for a good cause.
