Tasmanian Walking Company launches Three Capes adventure walk

The Tasmanian Walking Company (TWC) will knit together the final section of the Three Capes Track, adding the final promontory to its Three Capes Signature Walk.

The iconic trail located on the knife edge of  Australian first opened in 2015 and offers dramatic landscapes, high biodiversity, historical sites, and as per its namesake, three impressive Capes. Until recently, guided walks visited just two of the capes and offered only distant vistas of Cape Raoul.

However, the new product marks the first time that guests on a guided walk can step foot on all three landmarks. Tasmanian Walking Company’s head of values & standards, Heath Garrett said the Three Capes Adventure Walk builds on the existing Three Capes Signature Walk, one of just 13 trails inscribed into the league of Great Walks of Australia.

Heath Garrett said: “The Three Capes Adventure Walk is bigger than our Three Capes Signature Walk. It offers more time, more steps, and more challenges. At 75 kilometres – or 25 kilometres longer than the Signature Walk – it is the only guided walk that physically touches all three Capes. It will appeal to a hardier adventurer eager to tick off all three Capes.”

The extended Walk includes a six-hour return trek to Cape Raoul Lookout on the first day and one night at a new, private-use, safari-style tent known as Tasman Camp. The Walk then connects to the regular Three Capes trail which is famous for impressive cliff edges, 180-million-year-old dolerite columns and a well-mapped trail that meanders from windswept moorlands to densely green forests. For the remaining nights, guests will stay in Tasmanian Walking Company’s private use secluded lodges, the sole accommodations within the Tasman National Park.

Garrett added that while Tasmania Walking Company expanded the itinerary, the company’s core offerings remain the same.

“Each day we’ll give you spectacular trails brimming with diversity and curious stories, and nights to recharge in private eco-accommodation with chef-inspired meals. Warm showers and cosy beds are the baseline amenities. The walk also offers special treats like spa treatments, a yoga room, and a cold-bath plunge pool.”
