The $9billion monster wellness resort powered entirely by solar panels
Edited by Travel Weekly

We are just months away from the opening of luxury and regenerative tourism developer Red Sea Global’s monster wellness resort AMAALA which boasts 4,000 hotel rooms across 30 hotels and 1,200 luxury villas, apartments, and estate homes.

Inspired by the purity of the Red Sea, AMAALA is a space designed for deep connection – to nature, to self and community. It includes medical and integrative wellness and sun-drenched adventure to world-class art and transformative events.

The resort will be located on the Red Sea and will be entirely powered by solar panels – saving nearly half a million tons of CO2 emission each year.

A significant amount of cash has been invested in the resort – so far 600 contracts worth SAR 32 billion ($9billion) have been awarded to partners.

Some of the updates on the development include:

  • Final touches are now being made on AMAALA’s central Marina feature with the Yacht club close to completion
  • 80 per cent of the Wellness Core’ zone is now complete, an environment for wellness regeneration which includes world-leading Jayasom and Clinique La Prairie resorts
  • At the Triple Bay Central zone, premier hotels like The Four Seasons have begun final landscaping, and Rosewood and Six Senses destinations have surpassed a two-thirds completion mark;
  • Primary infrastructure works are heading towards completion including 35km of internal roads, plus power, water, irrigation, and communications infrastructure – RSG is targeting to energize in December 2024;
  • Three million plants and trees are set to be planted across the destination by the end of the year;
  • The Ministry of Health approved the design for the AMAALA Hospital to provide healthcare services for residents and visitors to the 4,200km2 destination

“We have achieved remarkable progress across every aspect of AMAALA, from our signature resorts and immersive experiences to essential utilities and infrastructure. Our unwavering focus is on infusing sustainability and regenerative principles into every facet of the development. Once complete, AMAALA will present an extraordinary collection of assets and experiences that will elevate wellness, lifestyle, and human connection,” said John Pagano, group CEO at Red Sea Global.
