The Bachelor NZ heats up the Sunshine Coast

Households across New Zealand the romantic side of the Sunshine Coast after the second The Bachelor New Zealand season began airing episodes filmed exclusively in Queensland.

The Bachelor New Zealand visited the Sunshine Coast as one of three episodes filmed across the state and was an initiative bought to the region by Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ).

Visit Sunshine Coast (VSC) CEO, Simon Ambrose, said the show provided the perfect platform to showcase a range of romantic experiences and locations across the Sunshine Coast to inspire more New Zealand travellers to the region.

“New Zealand is our largest international visitor market and this is a great opportunity to profile our many destination experiences to not only The Bachelor contestants but a large New Zealand audience,” Ambrose said.

The episodes feature a group date with the Jordan Mauger and all the bachelorettes at Australia Zoo and also a single date with the bachelor and one lucky contestant starting in Caloundra’s Golden Beach and Kings Beach before heading inland to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. The bachelor and bachelorettes enjoyed a garden party and rose ceremony amongst the picturesque grounds of Maleny Botanical Gardens and Birdworld.

“With a warm climate, outstanding local produce and stunning natural locations, the Sunshine Coast is a perfect holiday destination for romance. For example, the lucrative wedding tourism market accounts for 32% of all visitors to the Sunshine Coast and these visitors have a significantly longer average stay.

“VSC is working in partnership with TEQ to leverage The Bachelor opportunity through targeted digital activation, an electronic direct mail piece to be sent to over 30,000 New Zealanders to drive bookings over winter and closer to home VSC has also attended at the Queensland Brides Wedding and Honeymoon Expo held over the weekend,” said Mr Ambrose.

The Air New Zealand direct services will recommence in early July 2016, making it even easier for Kiwi’s to enjoy a romantic winter escape on the Sunshine Coast.

More than 460,000 people tuned in to see the finale to New Zealand’s first Bachelor series set in Queensland.
