To celebrate the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, The Gainsborough Bath Spa will host a series of exclusive events in partnership with Strictly Jane Austen.

Combining classic architecture and historical elegance, The Gainsborough Bath Spa is the perfect setting for this celebration of Jane Austen. Located just moments away from key sites in Austen’s life and times, it also boasts luxurious accommodation, exceptional hospitality, and an award-winning Spa Village with exclusive access to the naturally warm, mineral-rich waters of Bath.

Over the course of two six-day programmes in spring and autumn 2025, the elegant five-star hotel in the heart of Georgian Bath in the UK will be filled with the spirit of Jane Austen as guests look back on her life and times in the very surroundings where she shaped several of her most significant works, and in turn, the face of English literature.

The celebratory programmes take place between the 7th – 12th April and the 13th – 18th October 2025, organised by Strictly Jane Austen Tours, known for its inspiring Regency adventures and close ties with local experts.

Guests can expect insightful talks from a variety of Jane Austen experts who will reveal fascinating stories of Austen’s life and writing. The talks will cover a range of topics from bestselling authors, a number of academics, and historians.

The programmes also feature guided tours to some of Bath’s most popular attractions, including the No.1 Royal Crescent Museum which celebrates the history of Bath in the 18th century. Other highlights include a visit to the village of Lacock, whose picturesque streets were seen in the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of ‘Pride & Prejudice’, as well as many other many popular films and TV shows.

Visitors will also be treated to day trips to destinations at the heart of English literature, such as Austen’s House in Hampshire, a cottage turned inspiring museum which marks the birthplace of her beloved novels, and Chawton House. Once the home of Jane Austen’s brother, Chawton is referred to as the ‘Great House’ in her novels and is now home to a unique collection of women’s writing.

Executive vice president of YTL Hotels UK, Andrew Jordan, comments: “We are honoured to be partnering with ECT Travel to host these prestigious events at The Gainsborough Bath Spa. 2025 will be a special moment for Bath as we celebrate the remarkable works of Jane Austen, and our luxury hotel could not be better positioned for showcasing the wonders of our local history.
