These are the honeymoon locations with the highest divorce rates

Young Caucasian couple sitting above ocean at Maldives, with legs hanging. Showing their wedding rings. POV concept.

A new study claims to quantify the likelihood of divorce based on where you go on your honeymoon, and colour us intrigued.

An online gambling website called Compare.bet surveyed 3,100 divorced or separated people from around the world to find out where they went on their honeymoon.

The results revealed the Maldives is the destination where the highest percentage of the divorced couples surveyed took their honeymoon, with 20 per cent of respondents’ post-wedding escapades taking place in the island paradise.

Marrakech was the second most popular honeymoon spot for divorcees, with 17 per cent spending their special trip there.

On the other end of the scale, there was a four-way tie for the location where the lowest number of divorcees spent their honeymoon, with Bangkok, Napa Valley, Maui and Nairobi all taking up just one per cent.

Though, if we were you, we wouldn’t take the results to heart; the way the findings were calculated could also just mean the results show a cross-section of the most and least popular honeymoon spots.

But for the fun of it, here are the full results.
