Tiger-yeah! Budget Bali flights back on

Budget-conscious travellers can rejoice, Tigerair has been given permission to resume its Bali services next month.

The budget-airline will be able to operate from February 3, but won’t be able to take any bookings before then, continuing its mounting costs after being suspended from flying between Australia and Bali earlier this month.

The airline received approval to fly its Airbus A320 after being forced to ground flights due to circumstances regarding its licencing rules. The airline has argued the rule were “new admistrative requirements”, but the Indonesian Government has denied the claims.

However, before its February release, cancellations continue, with all services between Australia and Denpasar cut between now and February 2, with the airline offering full refunds to affected passengers.

Parent company, Virgin Australia is expected to continue to fly back stranded passengers from Bali to Australia where possible during this time.

A Tigerair spokeswoman told The Australian the airline had “received a key approval from the Indonesian government to operate scheduled flights to and from Bali using its Airbus A320 aircraft”.

The plan to resume normal flight was still subject to “final procedural approvals being secured”, the paper reports.
