Tour Guides Australia has offered its full support for the Queensland Government Department of Tourism and Sport’s $2 million Tourism Business Capability Subsidy.

The subsidy program is designed to boost the growth of Queensland’s tourism industry, offering up to $2,000 per eligible business to undertake targeted training and accreditation programs.

“It is a significant opportunity for Queensland tour operators to address workforce shortages by upskilling new and aspiring guides with our industry-led training packages, as well as providing accreditation for existing guides with our nationally-recognised accreditation and professional development program, ensuring that existing guides remain in the sector,” Tour Guides Australia President Greg Esnouf said.

Round 2 of the program was launched on 15 May and runs through to October. More information can be found here.

The Tour Guides Australia Tour Guiding Fundamentals micro credential training course and Professional Guide Accreditation program have been included in Round 2 of the program.

Tour Guiding Fundamentals Training Course

Tour Guiding Fundamentals is a three-day nationally recognised micro credential training course for people wanting to develop foundational knowledge and skills to enter this exciting workforce.

Tour Guiding Fundamentals is affordable, compact, practical, and led by qualified trainers working in the industry. It will equip new tour guides with the basics to get started in your new career.

Tour Guide Australia’s industry-led course is also a pathway towards formal accreditation and recognition by Tour Guides Australia, the peak national industry association.

Courses are scheduled for Cairns in July and October and Brisbane in September. On-site courses can be held at any business location.

TGA Professional Guide Accreditation recognises you at the highest national level and includes up to one year’s professional membership of Tour Guides Australia once successfully assessed. Details of each package can be found here.
