Travel Academy, Flight Centre Travel Group’s dedicated study + job business, has provided over 800 students with job pathways in the tourism industry.

“Our students come from all walks of life, some are young and just getting started, while others want to upskill or build a new career entirely,” Travel Academy general manager, Cameron Boyd, said.

“We’re uniquely positioned to not only educate our students, but because we are part of the industry, we can also provide them with very real jobs at the end of the program, both directly with Flight Centre Travel Group and through our valued hotel, aviation, and tourism partners.

“This year, our Aviation program received the most enquiry and we have supported more than 200 students graduate and secure jobs as cabin crew, airport support, aviation logistics, and customer service professionals.

“Our Whitsundays program which began in 2020, is another firm favourite we have set up more than 500 students with jobs and promotions through this pathway. The placements in paradise have ranged from hospitality to cruise attendants and lifeguards across our incredible partners at Hamilton Island, Daydream Island, Cruise Whitsundays, Coral Sea Resort, Club Wyndham and Mantra Club Croc.

“Our newest pathway in Sustainability is also attracting attention as we offer pathways through industry leading organisations such as Intrepid, G Adventures and Reforest.

“2024 has been a record year for us in many ways, be it welcoming more than 800 students to the program, or launching our first school partnerships.

“We now work with schools to showcase tourism to students in years 10-12, offering students the chance to kickstart their tourism diploma in year 12.

“We’re currently getting ready for the biggest intake of the year which always happens in January as school finishers begin their next chapter and look at careers in aviation, hospitality, travel consulting and tourism.”

Flight Centre Travel Academy combines tertiary level education with real world employment through eight pathways:

  • Work, Study + Play Whitsundays
