Virgin Australia adds more flights to Townsville for State of Origin series opener

Virgin Australia has added close to 4,000 seats to and from Townsville for the NRL State of Origin series opener in Townsville on Wednesday 9 June 2021.

With accommodation in Townsville limited, the airline has added a same-day return service between Brisbane and Townsville on the day of the game. Virgin Australia flight VA388 will depart Townsville for Brisbane at 11:15pm on Wednesday 9 June.

Seven extra Brisbane-Townsville flights and four extra Sydney-Townsville flights have been added between Tuesday 8 June 2021 and Thursday 10 June 2021.

“Virgin Australia is pleased to be able to support Townsville’s local tourism economy by adding almost 4,000 additional seats to and from the State of Origin series opener next week,” a spokesman for the airline said.

“Seats are selling quickly and we encourage customers to book ahead to secure the lowest fares.”
