Virgin Australia releases ‘hack’ guide to maximising your annual leave in 2024

Virgin Australia releases ‘hack’ guide to maximising your annual leave in 2024
Edited by Travel Weekly

Virgin Australia has released its guide for maximising 2024 holidays – pairing dream destinations with public holidays that will give travellers more time away for less annual leave, to double days off this year.

The ‘hack’ comes alongside a reminder of Virgin’s ‘Happy Hour’ which helps travellers get more for less every Thursday between 4-11 pm (AEDT).

Key national holiday dates to nab extended time off in 2024

  • January: Depart the evening of Friday 19 January 2024 and return on Sunday 28 January 2024 (nine-day break for only four days of annual leave)
  • Easter (March/April): Depart evening Thursday 28 March 2024 and return on Sunday 7 April 2024 (10-day break and for only four days of annual leave)
  • ANZAC Day Weekend (April): Depart the evening of Wednesday 24 April 2024 and return on Sunday 5 May 2024 (11-day break for only six days annual leave)
  • December: Depart the evening of Friday 20 December 2024 and return on Thursday 2 January 2025 (12-day holiday for only five days annual leave)

Of course, tips like this don’t come without some subtle marketing, so Virgin has gifted us all with some holiday ideas for the key dates.

In January, why not tickle the tastebuds in Tasmania or bliss out in tropical Fiji? Relax in Bali or soak up the sun in Far North Queensland over easter or head to Adelaide for Anzac Day 2024.

For your festive season fun, Virgin suggests a flight to the Gold Coast or Sunny Vanuatu on the evening of Friday 20 December 2024, or early morning of Saturday 21 December 2024, returning to work on Thursday 2 January 2025 to score a 12day holiday using only five days of annual leave.
