Visit California gets cheeky with new text message campaign

Among the first round of campaigns to get tourists back on planes comes this cheeky new video series from Visit California.

The destination marketing company is sliding into travellers’ DMs with a series of videos displaying text messages which look more like they come from a needy ex than a US state.

Not that we know what a text message from a US state would look like, but we weren’t expecting them to ask us for a wine tasting and “whatever happens”.

There’s even a wink emoji to top it off.

But that’s not the only suggestive string of messages. There’s also this mildly creepy text about the Californian sand being empty without the receiver’s “toes-ies” in it.

Not to mention, this instance of the state “pining” for the recipient.

The series was launched to announce that leisure travel is beginning to reopen to people within regions and in anticipation of the rest of the state getting back out there.

You can watch all the videos HERE.
