Women to lead new global Solo-ish offering from G Adventures

G Adventures has revealed its new singles travel offering, “Solo-ish”, a female-led travel style designed specifically for solo travellers who want to explore destinations as part of a small group.

The announcement was made at its annual GX Summit, held in Jaipur India last week, attended by Travel Weekly.

The Solo-ish trips, to officially launch next week and with itineraries from year, encourage solo travellers to connect with others while also allowing personal space and freedom. G Adventures founder Bruce Poon Tip was a solo traveller and embarked on returned with a vision to unite like-minded adventurers across the globe and witness the transformative power of community.

Over the past three decades, Poon Tip has changed millions of solo travellers lives but is now reimagining travelling on your own through the new Solo-ish offering.

Solo-ish promises to turn strangers into a close-knit crew and offer safe secure and expertly led travel with community at its core with the motto “Travel for yourself, not by yourself”.

The offering comes with a standard level of service, tourist-class accommodation with character, and a mix of public and private transport. Some tours may include light hiking, biking, rafting, or kayaking in addition to walking with the small group experience offering a maximum of 16 people with an average of 14. All tours are 18-plus.

“The first three days is for connection,” Gurmehar Randhawa, G Adventures VP of Finance told the GX Summit audience at Rajasthan International Centre on Friday.

“On day one, travelers who become fast friends over a fun dinner party. On day two is dedicated to bonding the group and connecting with the local community. And on day three, you’ll dive into an exciting lineup of epic adventures capped off of an oh-so-sweet surprise experience,” he said.

“We are thrilled to announce that they’ll be guided by an all-female CEO (chief experience officer) team creating more opportunities for women in travel.”

Trips will also include a free day where travellers can do what they want, when they want.

Launching in 25 destinations, Solo-ish itineraries will include South Korea, Portugal, Peru, Jordan, Italy, Greece and South Africa, among others.

Taking place on World Tourism Day last Friday, 27 September, the GX Summit was presented by G Adventures in collaboration with its non-profit partner, Planeterra.

More than 400 travel agents, media, suppliers, travellers and staff attended the GX Summit, which ran from September 24-29, to learn what can be done to have a greater positive impact on the destinations we travel to.
