Young Aussies yearning to travel, with NZ high on list

Intention to travel within Australia or New Zealand is high amongst the 18-35 year market, with 74% indicating they plan to travel domestically and 88% planning to head overseas in the next three to four years.

And, according to recent research conducted by Lonergan Research and commissioned by Contiki, of the young Aussies who plan to take an overseas trip, a whopping 93% want to include a trans-Tasman trip on their itinerary.

Btu despite the “very strong” demand to travel, the market has become “increasingly discerning” in their travel choices, Contiki managing director Katrina Barry said as the wholesaler unveiled its 2016/17 Australia and New Zealand program.

“They want to feel like they’re getting the most out of their investment.”

As a result, the youth specialist has devised its newest program with the findings of the research in mind.

“Providing great value is integral to all trips with each packed full of memorable experiences plus the peace of mind that everything is taken care of,” Barry explained.

“This year also sees a big focus on great accommodation, featuring a range of centrally located, three or four stars hotels as well as unique stays such as an outback cattle station or a Whitsundays private sailboat.”
