Atlantic Club Comporta has introduced a limited collection of private luxury residential club that blends thoughtful real estate design with hotel-like amenities, services, and experiences – available for weekly stays beginning in April.
Anchored by a community of private owners, the Club brings together the service, design, and sensibility of a boutique hotel with the privacy, space, and rhythm of a private home. Now accepting bookings for the 2026 season, Atlantic Club Comporta offers a refined, ownership-led alternative to traditional villa rentals – redefining how discerning travelers experience one of Europe’s most quietly coveted coastal destinations.

Location
Set along Portugal’s unspoiled western coast, just an hour from Lisbon, Comporta is celebrated for its natural beauty, cultural depth, and long-standing reputation for discretion and understated exclusivity. Conceived as a private residential community rather than a hotel, Atlantic Club Comporta will be welcoming guests for the first time beginning this spring.
“Atlantic Club Comporta was created in response to a fundamental shift in how people want to live and travel. Owners and guests today are seeking space, privacy, and a genuine sense of belonging,” Atlantic Club Comporta founder Dietrich E. Rogge said.
“Comporta has long embodied that spirit, with its understated beauty and resistance to overdevelopment. Atlantic Club is first and foremost a private residential community – one that brings people together through shared values and a deep connection to place – while offering the amenities, services, and experiences typically associated with luxury hospitality.”
Set across 35 acres, the development is discreetly embedded into a gently sloping hillside overlooking the Atlantic horizon and the rice fields of Carvalhal, with architecture designed to sit quietly within the landscape. Comprising 24 privately owned villas, each residence is conceived around a classic Comporta cabana concept, with villas composed of two to three cabanas arranged around private courtyards. Villas range from four to eight bedrooms, and span approximately 3,000 to 7,000sqft, allowing for flexible configurations suited to both extended stays and full villa buyouts. Each villa features private pools, terraces, saunas, and generous indoor-outdoor living spaces and can be rented for a minimum of one week.

Design
Designed by renowned interior designer and architect Jacques Grange, the residences reflect the quiet elegance and natural textures of the Comporta region, with positioning that captures sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding pine forests.
“I fell in love the first moment I saw the wilderness of the nature – the wonderful beach, dunes, and rice fields,” Grange said. “The Atlantic Club is about allowing the landscape to dominate, not the houses; and about making something harmonious.”
Landscaping by acclaimed garden designer Madison Cox further anchors the property in its natural setting, featuring indigenous plantings and bespoke gardens that evolve with the seasons. Architecture and interiors balance refined contemporary lines with organic materials, drawing inspiration from traditional cabana-style living reimagined for year-round use.
“There’s great beauty in simplicity,” Cox said. “I want to capture that spirit Jacques is imagining and create a palette of plants, and there is a multitude of resources in southern Portugal: the pomegranate and fig trees, the lavender and grasses that flourish here. I start with observing the winds, the plants, the soil.”

Amenities
Sustainability is a core consideration for Atlantic Club Comporta, with the development conceived to respect the integrity of the surrounding landscape and Comporta’s long-standing resistance to overdevelopment. The low-density layout and design approach reflect a broader commitment to thoughtful, responsible growth in one of Portugal’s most sensitive coastal regions.
As a private residential club, Atlantic Club Comporta places community at the center of the experience. Hotel-like amenities and bespoke services, including housekeeping, garden maintenance, private chefs, and concierge support, are thoughtfully integrated to enhance private residential life rather than define it.
Shared community spaces – including a clubhouse, onsite marketplace, and curated wellness experiences – foster connection among owners and guests, while expansive layouts, multiple cabanas, and generous indoor-outdoor living spaces make the villas particularly well suited for group and multigenerational stays.
The result is a rare balance between autonomy and care, where residents enjoy the freedom of a private home alongside the ease of a discreetly managed club environment.
Atlantic Club Comporta is now open and accepting bookings for the 2026 season. Weekly rates begin at approximately US$15,000 (around AU$20,908.50). A limited number of private residences remain available for purchase
