A select group of Australian travel trade representatives were treated to lunch at the residence of the French general consul in Sydney last week to Atout France’s celebrations of the upcoming 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games in Paris.

The French Consulate hosted a luncheon to celebrate France’s highly anticipated games in 2024, bringing together an esteemed group of guests from trade tourism, media, destinations, and sporting enthusiasts. The afternoon commenced with a warm welcome from Mr. Martin Juillard, Consul-General of France in Sydney who expressed his excitement for the upcoming events in Paris and throughout France.

Frederic Mazenq, from Atout France, then delivered a presentation highlighting the exciting preparations for
the games in Paris while showcasing the venues, and iconic landmarks of the country that will be at the forefront of the event.

One of the key takeaways from the event was the news from Daniel Beniston, the head of sales and NOC relations at FORTIUS, the official sub-distributor of ‘On Location’ for the sale of hospitality products at the games next year.

Beniston spoke on the hospitality packages for the Olympic Games Paris 2024 through FORTIUS that offer customers unrivalled peace of mind as well as options for all budgets.

Products range from in-venue to in-the-city hospitality products, providing the best hospitality experiences available including options to be front row of the opening ceremony or trackside for the 100-metre sprint final!

Travel packages will also be available for people travelling from abroad, more information can be accessed HERE.

One of the most riveting events on the schedule for next year’s games is the Olympic Surfing competition, which, in its second running will be held at one of the world’s most dangerous waves, Teahupoo, Tahiti.

Caroline Brunel from Tahiti Tourism’s AU/NZ team also spoke at the event and said the island is excited to showcase its rich cultural heritage to millions of eyes when the event kicks off.

The Paris Olympic games will take place from 26 July -11 August 2024, with the Paralympic Games running from 28 August to 8 September.

Over 10,000 athletes will travel for the event and France is expecting around 10 million visitors over the near two month event.

Thanks to a number of new measures, such as the planning teams focus on using structures and spaces that already exist, cutting out the amount of work and materials needed to make an event space, the 2024 edition will be the first carbon neutral games in history.
