Atout France’s new regional director Asia-Pacific, Dominique Maulin, is not a new face to the team.

Starting her career in New York, Maulin was responsible for public information and CRM, quickly climbing the corporate ladder she jumped across to Europe to take on the deputy director role for Spain and Portugal.

With more than 22 years’ experience, her new title will see her looking after Australia, New Zealand, Russia, the Middle East and India.

What are you hoping to showcase to the Australian Travel Trade

“I want to show Australia that France is beyond Paris, I want to entice the art, food, nature and sport lovers to explore France, give them the opportunity to see France is a different way. Boredoux, Toulouse, the beautiful city of Carcassonne and the ease of getting around by train.

“France is a small country you can do so much more than just Paris in a small amount of time. I am also looking forward to working with brands and collaborate to educate the trade on what to see and do in France including tradeshows, famils and webinars.”

What is one thing you are looking forward to the most looking after Australia?

“Our 2030 vision is to be the first sustainable destination in the world. Sustainability for us means doing things differently in every aspect of the country from the big cities to the countryside. From recycled energy on trains and buses to green hotels. Our vision is to show the world what sustainability looks from from every aspect of travel.”

What do you think the impact of the Olympics will have to France?

“We expect a long term return with the Olympics in Paris, next year we are hoping to see triple the number of travellers visiting France.

“Of course with the Olympics being held anywhere in the world it will open tourism for many years and we are hoping to see a 10-year travel spike in the number of travellers thanks to the legacy of the Olympics.”
