Aurora Expeditions has upped the ante with its recently unveiled list of special guests who will be joining voyages for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.
In line with growing demand for transformative travel, the program aims to match inspiring and educational guests from around the world with voyages where they can share their expertise and personal insights into the destinations that Aurora visits.
“Education and enrichment are at the heart of the way we explore, and we are thrilled to share our Special Guests program featuring experts in the fields of exploration, conservation, science, photography, art, culture and more to enrich our expeditions with their unique perspectives, insights and experiences,” commented Michael Heath, CEO of Aurora Expeditions.
“We want our expeditioners to be inspired and connect more deeply to the places, wildlife and their fellow travellers, and to leave our voyages richer in knowledge and understanding of our planet than when they stepped on board.”
Science commentator Dr Karl Kruszelnicki (basically Australia’s favourite clever person), will join Aurora’s South Georgia & Antarctic Odyssey from 10-30 March 2023, sharing a series of talks including lectures on climate change, space exploration, travel and more.
Richard Morecroft, who is best known for his two decades as the 7pm news presenter for ABC Television, will join the Antarctic Explorer voyage from 19 February -2 March 2023, delivering talks on a range of subjects, including landscapes, wildlife and art, as well as interactive and participative talks involving members of Aurora’s Expedition Team.
The first woman to sail solo around Antarctica with one-stop, Lisa Blair, will be sharing a number of talks inspired by her travels and experiences on the Spirit of Antarctica voyage from 9-20 December 2022.
Dr Paul Willis, the former Director of the Royal Institution of Australia and presenter on ABC TV’s Catalyst program, will join Wild Antarctica from 28 February-11 March 2023.
Marine biologist, underwater photographer, and Master Freedive Instructor, Lucas Handley, will deliver talks and freedive in Antarctica with some of Aurora’s passengers on Antarctic Climate Expedition, Wild Antarctica from 4-15 February 2023, Antarctic Explorer from 26 January-6 February 2023, Antarctic Explorer from 18-28 January 2023
And last but certainly not least, Dr Sylvia Earle, the namesake of Aurora’s second purpose-built vessel – an oceanographer, explorer, author, and lecturer with an insatiable passion for underwater exploration and marine conservation will join the Antarctic Climate Expedition.
