An Australian incentive trip has become a global winner at the SITE Crystal Awards, widely considered the “Oscars” of the incentive travel industry.

The Directions Conference & Incentive Management Australia trip, operated by Dragonfly Africa, scooped the 2015 Worldwide Site Crystal Award in the Africa/Middle East category at a lunch event in New Delhi, India last month.

Dragonfly Africa’s local partner Destination Management Services said the award honours professionals and programs that “recognise the power of connecting motivational experiences to solid business results.”

“As the business climate and traditional ‘way of doing business’ have evolved over the past years, so have the criteria and standards for motivational events,” it said.

DMS highlighted the challenges faced in this region of Africa over the last few years which makes the award all the more “poignant”.

“This award reinforces Dragonfly Africa’s belief that the East African countries – Tanzania, including Zanzibar, and Rwanda are finally being recognised as true stand-alone incentive destinations,” it said.

It is Dragonfly Africa’s third consecutive SITE Crystal Award win.

“This would not have been possible without the extraordinary support of all the local suppliers – hotels, charter companies, transport providers, guides and the general staff who welcomed the delegates with wide smiles wherever they travelled,” Dragonfly said.
