Aussie becomes face of Kazakhstan tourism

Who says you need to be born and bred in a country to promote tourism to it? No one apparently.

And never was this more clear than in the recent news that an Aussie has become the poster child of Borat’s native country Kazakhstan.

Born in Cairns, Robert Boyd now hosts one of the country’s top tourism shows.

According to Sky News, Boyd travels across the nation promoting its unseen and unexpected beauty, rich culture and history.

The Soviet state has recently become a hot spot for tourists looking for adventures.

Speaking about the country, Boyd said, “I don’t think many Australians know where Kazakhstan is, let alone how big it is and how many nationalities live here and the history of the country”.

And he’s not wrong, the country, which garnered a rather negative reputation from the 2006 smash hit Borat, actually boasts some pretty spectacular sites.

“I’m incredibly lucky. How many people get to go and live in a foreign country, get to travel around and meet interesting people, have an adventure and all with a tv crew looking after you,” Boyd added.
