Avis Australia has topped Canstar Blue’s ranking of rental car companies and taken home the award for ‘Most Satisfied Customers’ for the second year running.

The consumer review and comparison website annually ranks Aussie rental car companies based on how content customers are with their service.

Avis scored five-star ratings across key categories including customer service, transparency of cost and fees, vehicle quality and availability of vehicle type, and is the only brand to receive full marks for overall customer satisfaction.

Coming in second was Thrifty, scoring five-star ratings for transparency of costs and customer service, as well as being the only brand to receive five stars for value for money.

Thrifty scored four stars in all remaining categories, including overall satisfaction.

Europcar was ranked third, scoring a five-star rating for vehicle quality and four stars for all remaining categories, including the availability of vehicle type, customer service and overall satisfaction.

Budget placed fourth thanks to four-star ratings for customer service, value for money and transparency of costs and fees, and three stars in the remaining categories, including availability of vehicle type, vehicle quality and overall satisfaction.

Hertz ranked fifth, receiving three stars across all categories, including value for money, transparency of costs and overall satisfaction.

This year’s ranking was compiled based on survey responses and reviews from more than 3,000 Australians.

“We are extremely proud to win the Canstar Blue award for the second year in a row,” said Tom Mooney, managing director of Avis Australia.

“The win reflects our commitment to providing the very best service for our customers through focused innovation that creates a safe, seamless and premium experience for all.”

“We are constantly adapting to the ever-changing market ensuring that our customers remain our top priority and their experience is provided in a COVID-safe manner.”

Canstar Blue’s survey on car hire services revealed that customer service was the most important driver of overall customer satisfaction (25 per cent), followed by transparency of costs (24per cent), value for money (20 per cent), vehicle availability (16 per cent) and vehicle quality (15 per cent).

The survey also revealed that 35 per cent of respondents would recommend their hire car provider to a friend.
