Back-Roads Touring has launched its first-ever tour to Greece!

The new 12-day Greece: Legends and Landscapes tour starts and ends in Athens and will take visitors off the beaten track to explore the Peloponnese and Naxos (Cyclade Islands) regions.

There will be seven scheduled departures of the tour between May-October 2023; the first departure is on 20 May 2023 and as always with Back-Roads Touring, the maximum group size will be 18 guests.

Over 11-nights, customers will stay at a range of hand-picked four-star hotels including Kastalia Boutique Hotel in Delphi, Grande Bretagne Hotel in Nafplio, and Stavros Tou Notou Seaside Resort in Gythion. A three-night stay on Naxos, one of the Cyclade Islands, overnighting at the stylish Hotel Xenia, located under the Venetian Castle, is also included.

The itinerary has been meticulously created so customers can really uncover the legends and landscapes of Greece and embrace the local way of life. From awe-inspiring sites to sleepy towns and coastal treasures, secrets and legends are waiting to be unveiled.

Included experiences:

  • A tour of a family-run farm followed by a traditional Greek cooking class in a village in Naxos
  • An Olive Oil experience in Olympia that incorporates a visit to the Olive press open-air museum, with 100 years of history and the magnificent ancient Olive Tree ‘’Koroneiki’’, an expert-led tour of modern oil processing and production, and a tasting session
  • A small boat tour through the Diros Caves, one of the most important natural sites in Greece, famed for the magic of the colours, the beautiful shapes, impressive waterfalls, and mighty stalactites and stalagmites
  • Tours of key archaeological sites including Olympia (which was recorded to host the first ever Olympic Games in 776 BC) and Delphi (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)
  • A honey tasting experience in Itea Village
  • A walking tour through Aeropoli, where the pages of Greek history were written

Back-Roads Touring’s David Gendle said the operator was delighted to be adding Greece to its repertoire.

“Greece is a destination that blends itself so well to what our customers want, which is to go deeper and really get to know the places they visit with us,” he said.

“We are certain this tour is going to be extremely popular with both our loyal and new customers. “

With Back-Roads Touring health and safety always comes first and agents can book Greece: Legends and Landscapes for their clients with the assurance of Back-Roads Touring’s flexible booking policy, which covers changes and cancellation protection as well as the extended flexibility policy.

Greece: Legends and Landscapes costs from $5,799 per person including 11 nights’ accommodation, 17 meals (11 breakfasts, one lunch and five dinners), transportation by premium mini-coach and experienced Back-Roads tour leaders throughout.
