Long-standing Balmain travel agency Global Village Travel, has joined forces with independent agency Global Travel Co and will now trade as: Global Village Travel – Part of Global Travel Co.
Heidi Kervinen remains at the heart of the business, continuing to serve loyal clients with the same warmth, knowledge, and dedication that has defined Global Village Travel for three decades. With operational support from Global Travel Co, Kervinen can now focus on what she loves most — creating memorable travel experiences — without the stress of running a business.
“Heidi is one of the most respected advisors in the industry,” Global Travel Co director Ben Apsey said. “She knows every face on Darling Street, and nearly everyone knows her. We’re here to continue growing the brand she’s built – not to replace it.”
Legacy rekindled on Darling St
Global Village Travel operates from a new location on Darling Street. In the mid-2000s, the site was home to Harvey World Travel, making this move a nostalgic and meaningful return of travel services to a familiar address.
“This is more than a new shopfront — it’s a revival of something the community knows and loves,” Aspey added. “To rebuild Global Village Travel right here feels exactly as it should.”
As a Travellers Choice member for over 20 years, Heidi is also well known within the travel industry across Australia – but it’s in Balmain where her legacy is most tangible. Her connections, stories, and commitment to personal service are legendary.
Right time, the right people
The opportunity to support Global Village Travel’s revival arose from a longstanding business friendship between Heidi and Ben, formed through their shared involvement in Travellers Choice. When Ben’s partner, Bree, relocated permanently to Sydney for a full-time role with Opera Australia, the stars aligned to establish a Global Travel Co presence in the Inner West – and honour a respected local brand in the process.
“We’re not changing what works,” Apsey said. “We’re preserving the brand, supporting Heidi, and helping bring Global Village Travel.”
