Air Tahiti Nui are on track to launch Dreamliner services from 2018, giving a boost to the island nation’s inbound tourism figures.

Two of the four acquired Boeing 747-9 aircraft will take to the skies in November 2018, with the other two to fly from mid-2019, which is expected to “accelerate visitor numbers to Tahiti” according to the airline’s Regional Manager Alan Roman.

The estimated US$514 million Dreamliner deal follows the refitting of Air Tahiti Nui’s five A340 aircraft in a two class configuration, which services flights between Auckland and Papeete.

Roman spoke at a joint event in Sydney last week, hosted by Tahiti Tourisme Director Robert Thompson, South Pacific Management (SPM) Business Development Manager Alain Campignon and SPM Director of Sales and Marketing Sophie Bessou, as well as Atout France Director Patrick Benhamou.

South Pacific Management portfolio consists of four resorts on four island nations, including the only five star property on Easter Island. SMP will also manage the private island resort of Cirque du Soleil founder, Guy Laliberté, on Nukutepipi Atoll, in Bora Bora, when it opens in July.

Tahiti Tourisme Director Robert Thompson announced details of its latest global campaign, Be Embraced by Mana – highlighting the diversity of the destination. Thompson explains Mana as a single word that evokes the people, culture and lifestyle of Tahiti.

“Whether visitors want to connect or disconnect, relax or get active, hide or seek, explore underwater or on land, there are many sides to the Islands of Tahiti. But at the core of it all is Mana, which encapsulates all that is remarkable about the destination,” he explained.

The new campaign has rolled out globally across Tahiti Tourisme websites and social media.
