Aligning with the increasing interest in Sydney and the growing priorities of the company, Australia’s leading convention bureau, Business Events Sydney (BESydney), has made the strategic appointment of Ashley White to Deputy General Manager, Bidding.

White will be responsible for BESydney’s new Industry Sector teams and the company’s European and North American international offices, and will report to the General Manager, Bidding, Kristian Nicholls.

“Ashley brings great experience to the team,” BESydney CEO, Lyn Lewis-Smith said.

“Our mission is to position Sydney and New South Wales (NSW) as world-renowned, dynamic and sustainable meeting destinations by being a global thought leader in the business event sector; challenging the status quo; and by connecting, engaging with and respecting its stakeholders to deliver economic and social benefits. We have purposely sought out the skills that will differentiate us – this is a strategic appointment – and I have no doubt Ashley will add immense value to the company as our Deputy General Manager, Bidding.”

White said that after 17 years generating global business outcomes for Australian industry – including the last two years developing a successful consultancy in the private sector – he was looking to reapply his commercial nous and government experience to an organisation that positively impacts the people and economy of NSW and Australia.

“Having worked closely with various BESydney staff over many years, I have a deep understanding of the role of the organisation, its objectives, culture and limitations. I can see what can be achieved, and I know I can play a key role to ensure the organisation delivers this potential,” White added.

Mr White will work part time from late April while he completes the high-level business event strategy for the NSW Department of Premier & Cabinet. He will join the team full time from 6 June.
