We chat with Stephen Ferrigno, General Manager, Four Points by Sheraton, Melbourne Docklands

The great thing about my job is…I get the opportunity to conenct with so many different people and work with them to create something special in our new hotel. Each day we learn something new and we are able to explore the depths of our own abilities

The challenge for industry is…constantly reminding oursleves we are here to serve people and to do that successfully is a very special skill requiring investment and commitment from all

My greatest achievement is…my time spent working for Sheraton Hotels & Resorts, which was part of the Starwood group and is now owned by Marriott International, working with some amazing mentors, teachers and friends

The biggest thing in MICE this year will be…virtual reality

I try to relax by…spending time with my family and friends, reading a book in the sun or playing golf and cooking (not at the same time although there’s an idea for a good event!)

I don’t understand why…people who criticise never look within first

My favourite venue is…Docklands promenade, so much potential for daytime and nightime events on land and water

I’ve always wanted to travel to…Antarctica

I am scared to death of…walking past a mirror one day and not seeing a reflection!

I can’t live without…books, my wife and kids, and time around a BBQ with a beer and friends

I really wish I had…more time and the ability to fly (a la Peter Pan)

If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be…Peter Pan (fying tips), Adam Gilchrist (just a beaut bloke), my wife ….oh and Megan Gale – these dinner parties never come true so whats the harm in inviting Megs?!

For anyone starting out in the industry one piece of advice I’d give would be ….make mistakes with courage and humility and never make the same one twice
